The Hatch House
The Hatch House sat across the River Bourne for many years. I remember it well and as a child along with other children we used to play by it as well as playing in the river. Hanging over the bridge in Green Lane with our jam jars catching minnows was great fun.
Next to the Hatch House in this photograph is a small thatched building that housed the bell pump that used to provide water from the river to nearby cottages. If you hunt amongst the stinging nettles you will still be able to find the pump’s remains.
